Phenol Formaldehyde Solid Resin

Novolac

It’s one of the most popular condensation polymers. They are widely used in industry because of their frame and chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and dimensional ability. Phenol formaldehyde resins are usually made from the condensation polymerization of phenol and formaldehyde, in acidic condition which is also know as Novolac.

Application:

1. Production of phenolic moulding powder.

2. Can be used in solid form or alcoholic solution for pr-coated sand (Foundry resin).

3- As resin in liquid  form or powder form to be used as bonding   agent for making  grinding wheels and friction martial (brake lining/clutch )

4- Adhesives for metal Parts to glass Parts (cement capping lamp)

UF- Resin

UREA FORMALDHYDE RESIN 60 %

UF resin is by far the dominant adhesive for MDF and PB. It provides a strong adhesion in a permanently dry environment, cures fast, and is relatively cheap.. It has an affinity for wood surfaces

Application:   As a bonding agent for grinding / cutting wheel or abrasive material manufacture.

 

Grinding materials are based on high quality Calcined Alumina grits mixed with Silicon carbide grains to impart special working hardness. To give the desired performance to such abrasives/ friction materials, Phenol formaldehyde binders are used together with liquid resin to obtain excellent bonding strength for abrasive cutting wheels. Such liquid resins are used also used to dissolve the powder, to get wet resistance and pressing consistency.

Process ofusing

1- Heat 100 kg of clean sand to   65-75 Cº   by hot air.

2- Mixed this sand with 750 gm of hexamine.

3-Add 7 kg of shalco resin to this mixture.

4- Leave the mixture for 4 min at the same temperature of hot air.

5- Pass cold air for about 3 min then add 200 gm of calcium Stearate powder.

6- Sieving the product to separate the fine coated sand.
